About This Project

What do you get when you put two famously elusive designers in conversation together? An off-the-chain interview, that’s what. System, which previously brought us that interview with Raf where he discussed leaving Dior and the breakneck pace of fashion, has got Simons and Miuccia Prada to interview each other for its latest issue. Two of fashion’s most pioneering designers, the pair chat for nearly 10,000 glorious words.

Gems include Miuccia saying, “Sometimes, I’ll think I’ve had a fantastic idea, but Olivier Rizzo, who works with me and knows Raf’s work, says, ‘Miuccia, Raf’s already done that’”, and Raf saying, “I think that designers should be freer to say what we really think. These days, we are no longer able to; we’re supposed to always self-censor ourselves. People express such extreme opinions online about our collections, yet if we dare say one thing that is not politically acceptable…” Head here to read the conversation in its entirety.

With a cover line that reads “Everybody loves Miuccia”, the magazine is dedicated to the Italian designer and features two further interviews with her – one by super-stylist Katie Grand and another by Rookie editor-in-chief and actress Tavi Gevinson – as well as with a portfolio by legendary photographer Juergen Teller.

Elsewhere, the issue features an interview with Christopher Bailey following the launch ofBurberry’s ‘See Now, Buy Now’ retail model; a porfolio by Collier Schorr showcasing Gucci’s SS17 menswear collection; along with an interview with Christopher Kane in celebrating of his brand’s tenth birthday and Dover Street Market’s Adrian Joffe on bricks-and-mortar retail.
